About Cahalen David Morrison Born and raised in the high desert of Northern New Mexico, Cahalen David Morrison manifests beauty -- of land, people, art, and love -- through music.
Sweeping from raggy finger picking and twangy bluegrass ballads to traditional New Mexican rancheros, mellow, bluesy lap slide guitar and spirited jazz drumming, Cahalen taps into the entirety of true Americana music.
While living in southern India studying Sitar and tabla, Cahalen's songwriting grew closer to home in appreciation of the Americana roots his father brought him up on, while tastefully weaving in a subtle global quality and perspective, creating a pronounced musical signature.
From punchy political commentaries, to melodic, soul warming serenades, Cahalen's songwriting lies somewhere between ragged and beautiful, local and global, at home and out on the road. Take a listen.
Opening: Maryse Smith
Folk

Every so often, a performer of epic proportions contacts me from a million minutes away...like Cahalen David Morrison on New Mexico. And then he or she appears and plays to a hit or miss crowd and it just kills me!!! Such incredible talent, so many people in Burlington who would love to listen...and yet, the room is half-empty because nobody knows him.
So we're taking a different tact these days: if you see the best of Burlington's folk performers on a double bill (LIKE MARYSE SMITH), that should be an unequivicable sign that the other half the bill is from far away but oh so talented.
What an incredible two-for-one this Friday...DON'T MISS OUT!!!
